In other places Allah Almighty says;

Surah An-Naml verse Ayat No 62

Or ask them, “Who responds to the distressed when they cry to Him, relieving their affliction, and Who makes you successors in the earth? Is it another god besides Allah? Yet you are hardly mindful!” (Surah An-Naml verse 62)

It is crucial to repeat our dua without feeling worried and to remember the stories in the Quran of individuals who continuously sought Allah’s assistance until He saved them through His magnificent power.

What are the Benefits of Dua?

Making dua, which involves praying to Allah (SWT), has great importance and numerous benefits. Dua is not just meant for difficult times but can also be used to express gratitude or seek protection when things are going well. Despite the many challenges that life may bring, our ultimate goal is to worship Allah (SWT) and perform good deeds to attain Jannah.

Making Dua is a practice that has numerous benefits. Some of these benefits are explained below:

Arrogance Decreases

When we make Dua, we let go of arrogance. By asking Allah (SWT) for help, we acknowledge He is the creator of everything, including us. We realize how insignificant we are compared to Him and understand that Allah (SWT) dislikes arrogance. Therefore, we should avoid it.

Dua is a Gateway to Allah’s Mercy

The importance of Dua cannot be neglected as it is the Gateway to Allah’s Mercy. By making supplications, Allah (SWT) showers his servants with mercy. We are all human and not immune to having sinned. If we seek reformation and ask Allah Almighty for forgiveness through dua, we can hope to be forgiven for our sins and gain His mercy.

Narrated by Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA):

Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “By Allah, I seek Allah’s forgiveness and repent to Him more than seventy times a day.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari 6307)

Finding Solace and Comfort

We often find solace and comfort in a particular practice that serves as a source of spiritual support, particularly when we are feeling distressed, sad, or facing difficulties in life. This practice seeks help and relief from Allah Almighty during hardship or adversity. It helps to provide a sense of calm and peace amidst challenging circumstances and offers a means of connecting with a higher power for guidance and strength.

Dua keeps your Heart Humble

Dua helps to keep arrogance away from our hearts and promotes humbleness. When we make dua, we feel the Almighty’s power and recognize our powerlessness. We understand that all matters can ultimately only be solved by the Almighty, but our supplications and efforts help us achieve our needs. Our daily supplications to Allah (SWT) can refresh our hearts in remembrance of our Lord and make us aware that all matters come from Him.

Hazrat Abud-Darda (R.A) reported that:

I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUM) saying, “Whenever a Muslim supplicates for his (Muslim) brother in his absence, the angels say: ‘May the same be for you too’.”

(Riyad as-Salihin 1494)

When we perform Salah, we make a prayer (dua) for our parents. Praying for our parents during Salah is a complete act of seeking Allah’s pleasure. Allah Almighty has blessed us with the opportunity to pray for our parents during Salah, which is a great gift. Here is a prayer specifically for parents:

Surah Ibrahim verses 40-41

My Lord! Make me and those believers of my descendants keep up prayer. Our Lord! Accept my prayers. Our Lord! Forgive me, my parents, and the believers on the Day when the judgment will come to pass.” (Surah Ibrahim verses 40-41)
